How did Jacob Marley pass on in "A Christmas Ditty" A Christmas Song (1843) by Charles Dickens is a Christmas novella that depicts the change of Ebenezer Penny pincher from somebody who loathes Christmas, generosity and cheer into somebody who grasps these things. Answer Tightwad's change is set into movement by the apparition of his late accomplice, Jacob Marley, who reveals to Miser what the remainder of the night has available for him. The phantom of Jacob Marley is depicted as being shackled in apparently inevitable chains. Also, his head and jaw are bound together by a collapsed cloth.
